In September 2013, Kolej MDIS Malaysia became the second overseas campus of the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS). The ground breaking ceremony in September 2013 was officiated by YAB Tan Sri Dato Hj. Muhyiddin bin Hj. Mohd Yassin, the then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia.
Kolej MDIS Malaysia is the first private tertiary institution of Singapore to make its foray into Educity Iskandar Puteri Malaysia when MDIS signed the landmark deal with Educity @ Iskandar Sdn Bhd making it the first major commitment made by a Singapore private education group in the Iskandar special economic zone.
The RM300 million project is being carried out in three phases: the first will allow the campus to cater to some 2,000 students, with the goal to cater to over 10,000 students upon completion of its third phase.
Designed with the state of the art infrastructure incorporating campus wide WiFi connectivity, fully-equipped computer laboratories and lecture theatres, the campus also embraces eco-friendly initiatives. As much as 40 percent of the 30.07 acres of land has been allocated to incorporate eco-friendly features such as solar panels, rain water collection tanks and glare shields. Consequently, water and electrical usage savings are maximised.
Kolej MDIS Malaysia offers courses in Business, Finance, Banking and Accounting, Tourism and Hospitality, Mass Communication, Information Technology and Digital Media. All courses have already received accreditation from the Malaysia Qualification Agency.
Students of the various MDIS campuses from Singapore, Uzbekistan and Malaysia will have the opportunity of a transnational education. With increasing globalisation of economies worldwide this will give students a comprehensive global perspective.
Currently, the Kolej is operating from the City Campus at Johor Bahru City Square. With the completion of the new campus, and upon approval from all relevant government departments, Kolej MDIS Malaysia would become one of the important landmarks in Educity at Iskandar Puteri.
