In recognition of this link as well as growing educational and business ties between our countries, the Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) was founded in 2000, through an Australian and Malaysian partnership. Sunrise Berhad, a well-known public listed property company became the Malaysian partner. The aim of the partnership was to bring a well-rounded and rigorous education to Malaysia, drawing on Australia’s academic strengths and sporting prowess.

From our small beginnings with just two students and five members of staff at Country Heights, we’ve grown to having over 650 students, 40 nationalities and more than 50 staff members today.

By 2001 the school was already growing, and a new site for the school was found at the Mines Resort. By 2003, we moved into our new home at the Mines Resort City, 20km south of central Kuala Lumpur.
