About Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah

Kolej Universiti INSANIAH (KUIN) is a university that owned by State Government of Kedah DarulAman and registered with the Ministry of higher education Malaysia KPT/JPS/DFT/US/K03.

Kolej Universiti INSANIAH was formerly known as Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kedah DarulAman. The Kedah State Government was vigorous in itself effort to create a centre of Islamic higher education in the State that in accordance with the status of a State Premier in the history of the development of Islamic scholars once before.

The objective of the early years of Islamic religious Institute of the State of Kedah Darul Aman was to produce more professionals which are able to lead Islamic community and expands knowledge of Islam. In addition, to meet the needs of graduates of religious schools to pursue studies to a higher level.

The establishment of Institute Agama Islam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman is also to reinstate the tradition of Islamic studies for the benefit of religion, race and country. His Majesty the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman has consented the Enactment Jamiah Islam Negeri Kedah DarulAman which was approved by the State Assembly on 7 December 1994 under the enactment number 4, Year 1995.

With the establishment of the Institute of Islamic State of Kedah Darul Aman, a new history has been recorded for the State of Kedah to establish a pure Islamic university centre. This is very appropriate for a State with many Islamic Studies Centres since its time.

Among the main objectives of the establishment of the Institute Agama Islam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman is to enhance the quality of Islamic studies and Arabic language to produce the religious generations, intelligent, intellectual and reputable scholars, fortunate, believe and respond to the needs of Islamic Affairs from time to time.
At the early stages of the establishment of Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman had conducted twinning studies program at University level with Al-Azhar University, Egypt which awarded a Degree, Diploma and Certificates. The Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman established three major field of studies namely Shariah, Usuluddin and the Arabic Language.

The academic year begins on 2nd January 1996. Arabic is the medium of instruction, while English is the compulsory subjects. The State Islamic Institute of Kedah Darul Aman used the term system in accordance with the system at Al-Azhar University. The academicians are selected among the competent scholars graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy or equivalent in order to maintain the academic quality of Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kedah DarulAman.

In line with the changes for the sake of change, the State Islamic Institute of Kedah Darul Aman (INSANIAH) has been upgraded as University College on 15 May 2006.

INSANIAH aims to become an international centre of knowledge in order to produce graduates who are able to master the knowledge in the field of professionals and religion to achieve towards the excellence in this world and the hereafter.
